Commissaire indépendante, autrice et travailleuse culturelle
Noémie Fortin est originaire de Lac-Mégantic et vit maintenant avec sa famille dans les Cantons-de-l’Est. Elle y accompagne des démarches artistiques, agricoles et communautaires axées sur le soin du vivant. Sensible aux formes et pratiques enracinées dans la pensée écoféministe, elle concentre ses recherches sur l’art écologique qui sort des institutions pour aller à la rencontre des territoires et des communautés, avec un intérêt particulier pour les milieux ruraux.
Depuis 2017, ses projets de commissariat prennent racine à la Galerie d’art Foreman de l’Université Bishop’s, au 3e Impérial, centre d’essai en art actuel ainsi qu’à RURART, art contemporain en milieu rural. Ses écrits sont publiés dans diverses revues spécialisées, dont Esse arts + opinion, Vie des Arts, Ciel variable et The Goose: A Journal of Arts, Environment, and Culture in Canada. En tant que travailleuse culturelle, elle a contribué au développement du programme éducatif de la Fondation Grantham pour l’art et l’environnement, avant de porter la mission du Laboratoire communautaire d’art (ArtLab) de la Galerie d’art Foreman.

Independent curator, author and cultural worker
Noémie Fortin is originally from Lac-Mégantic, and now lives with her family in the Eastern Townships. There, she accompanies artistic, agricultural and community initiatives focused on caring for the living. Attuned to forms and practices grounded in ecofeminist thinking, her research focuses on ecological art that moves outside of institutions to engage with territories and communities, particularly in rural areas.
Since 2017, her curatorial projects have been rooted at the Foreman Art Gallery of Bishop’s University, at the 3e Impérial, centre d’essai en art actuel as well as at tuel ainsi qu’à RURART, art contemporain en milieu rural. Her writings are published in a number of specialized publications, including Esse arts + opinion, Vie des Arts, Ciel variable, and The Goose: A Journal of Arts, Environment, and Culture in Canada. As a cultural worker, she contributed to the establishment of the Grantham Foundation for the Arts and the Environment‘s educational program before carrying out the mission of the Foreman Art Gallery’s Community Art Lab (ArtLab).
